Description

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a family of over 5,000 man-made, fluorinated organic chemicals. They are commonly used as water repellent (GoreTex®), Non stick pans (Teflon®), stain-resistant carpets, flame retardants and other non-stick products. You may also find them in car and floor polish and certain cosmetics!

Unfortunately, because of their nature, they can linger for decades once released into the environment. They are now known to accumulate in humans and wildlife species around the world and present serious health hazards such as decreasing fertility, increased cancer risk, immune system disruption, and more.

UK REACH (the regulatory framework for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) has recently set limits on certain types of PFAs which companies must abide by in order to uphold environmental standards. Together with the Drinking Water Inspectorate, the Environmental Agency is in charge of regularly testing and making sure companies abide by the rules.

The drinking water companies are required to use UKAS laboratories certified for testing drinking water.

We offer two types of PFAS water testing: Certified and Non-Certified.

Both tests are done in world-class laboratories certified to UKAS or equivalent EU standards.

For general household and any other non-regulatory testing, you should select Non-Certified testing.

The certified test analyses your water sample in a drinking water ISO certified lab in Sweden. However, please note that the regulation certification may not be valid if the water sample is not also collected by an accredited sampler. Please contact us for more information and we would be happy to help.

What do our Aqua Vue scientists say?

This product is for you if you are concerned about the presence of PFAS, including GenX in your tap water. Do you live near a military base or other fire training facility with frequent use of firefighting foam? Are industrial pollutants and chemical spills causing concern in your area? Does your local water utility have documented contamination problems? If so, this product is for you. Get the peace of mind knowing that what comes out of your tap has been properly tested for potentially harmful contaminants.

We offer two options for PFAS testing in drinking water, as you can see below. The first is performed by a UK based lab UKAS certified lab for water in general and the second is an EU ISO certified lab for PFAS drinking water testing based in Sweden.

Please note that the list of PFAS testing offered by each varies slightly. See below.

non-accredited: the non-accredited package covers testing at uk based, UKAS ACCREDITED LAB for surface and ground water pfas, but no accreditation provided for drinking water. please contact us if you have questions regarding this. This will be the best test for most households.
Here is the list of the 48 PFAS (inc. GenX) that this package tests for. These are the most commonly found PFAS in drinking water, as recommended by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI).

1 review for PFAS Water Testing

  1. Geo Wong

Loved this! Not many reliable PFAS testing solutions available right now, but I am very happy with the results here. They shipped everything we needed for the water collection (2 small vials) and then we shipped it back to them as per the supplied instructions.
We then got the results back within about a week.
We live in central London so we were worried about PFAS and other metals in our water. It turns out that there were indeed a few present at higher than optimal concentrations, so this reinforced our use of our Brita tap water filter.
